Our ticket registration is now live however the first batch of hotel rooms has already been all but completely sold out: most NH Koningshof rooms were gone in less than two minutes, which has managed to baffle us as well.
Congratulations to those who managed to obtain a room, and to those who didn’t we wish you good luck on the next round: the second batch will go up for sale on Saturday 16th at 14:00 hours.
Some of you might have noticed: several rules of our competitions are already online. The signups for these competitions will open later (We will post the exact date in another announcement). So please take your time to read through these rules if you want to compete in the competitions and don’t hesitate to ask questions in our forum or on Facebook.
As you may have noticed, there’s been a change in the line-up of our cosplay competitions. Not only are there more of them but one in particular has undergone a complete metamorphosis. The Cosplay Fashion Show has been drastically changed to make it more accessible. Since we now have so many high level competitions, signing up as a beginner or even an advanced performer or cosplayer can be daunting. We felt that we needed something on entry level which would be less intimidating, easy to join and participate in with a full focus on your costume that would just be a lot of fun for everybody. Well friends, that’s why there is no more Cosplay Fashion Show anymore but instead we would love to introduce you to our new and improved Cosplay Masquerade!
With this beginner and advanced level competition, you can even participate if it’s your first time ever cosplaying. Have fun showing off you costume on stage and who knows, maybe you’ll end up winning one of those coveted trophies! This is your chance to rub shoulders with fellow cosplayers, exchange knowledge with others or just learn from observing the show. It’s all about less stress and more fun!

At Dutch Comic Con we’ve hosted a competition at our promo stand where you were required to guess the amount of candy in a jar. We’ve received an overwhelming amount of entries and have finally confirmed the results: the winner of the Dutch Comic Con contest is Wilbert Kessels who managed to guess the exact amount of candy: 382! Congratulations, Wilbert, on winning your VIP Ticket for Abunai! 2015!
Our ticket system isn’t the only thing that’s getting an overhaul this year. As you can see we’ve also made some changes to our website. While the old site was still getting plenty of compliments for its design, we thought it was time for something fresh, something cute and playful.
Just as important however: the back-end of the site has become a lot simpler to manage, making it easier for us to give quicker updates and add new content. Expect a lot of activity coming from us in the upcoming period, including upcoming promotional activities and new events and competitions this year.
Happy with the new design? You can leave your feedback on our Facebook page or our forum.
Some of you might be wondering what is going on with the Abunai! Ticket sales. It is true that the ticket sales are starting later this year compared to previous years. This is mostly because we are working really hard on a new registration system and website. Unfortunately we underestimated the amount of time this would take and we apologize for that.
However this means that we will be able to provide a smoother sales procedure and are able to give you clear information about the convention when we go live.
There are also concerns about the hotel rooms. Some people are worried that the hotel will be fully booked by external parties, but this is not the case. Abunai! has reserved all the hotel rooms already so that you can book them through the ticket registration system.
Abunai! 2015 is going to spice it up with a sweet new competition on Saturday!
This year we welcome Animecon’s Clara Cow’s Cosplay Cup 2016 Dutch preliminaries! The CCCC (or C4) will be added to the Cosplay Act Competition show on the Saturday of Abunai!. This relaxed new international competition will focus for 60 percent on the act of each duo. And what is your prize? If you win the finals at Anime 2016, you get to travel to Japan and compete in a traditional Chinese cosplay showcase.
In addition to the CCCC preliminaries we also made a few changes to the Cosplay Act Competition, such as the duration of the act. Please read all the rules (when they are ready) thoroughly if you want to compete.
Signups will open soon. Be quick, and perhaps we shall see you backstage! We are currently busy reviewing the rules, when they are ready we will make another announcement. So please keep visiting our site and social media for more information.
We’re receiving a lot of questions recently asking when our registration system will open again and when our ticket sales will start. Understandable, of course, since it’s usually around this time of year that these wheels are set in motion again.
At this moment we’re still preparing our system for 2015 and thus no final date has been set yet. Rest assured we will try to plan the opening date and time as favorable as possible. As soon as the date has become final we will announce this through a follow-up message on our website and social media.
That was the question we asked visitors at our stand at Nishicon. A lot of people participated and we’ve received a wide range of guesses, but the one and only correct answer was: 1266! Congratulations to Paul van Bussel for guessing the closest to that amount (1267) and on winning a VIP Ticket for ‘Abunai! 2015 – Sugar, spice and everything nice!’
