As some of you might know NH Koningshof contains an indoor pool which is freely accessible for guests staying at the hotel. However please be advised that the hotel requests that cosplay outfits and / or wigs stay out of the pool. We understand that some of you are planning pool photo shoots, so we figured we’d give you a heads up on this beforehand, so that you are able to make alternative plans.
Sugar, Spice and… wait? no! NOOOOO!!!! *runs*
Come check out the trailer for the opening film for “Abunai! 2015: Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice”.
Part One will be shown during the Opening Ceremony on Friday, and Part Two during the Closing Ceremony on Sunday.
If you are unable to attend either (or both), don’t worry. It will be available online after the convention so you can check it back!
Following our previous announcement, the Saturday ticket sales really sky rocketed and are now officially sold out.
We are of course very happy to hear that so many people want to attend Abunai!, but unfortunately there is also a downside. If you did not acquire a Saturday ticket (whether paid or reserved) yet, it will not be possible to get one anymore, not by online registration and not at the door. Of course, you are still more than welcome to visit us on Friday or Sunday.
Heads-up for everyone who did not register for a ticket yet: Ticket sales for the Saturday are nearing it’s sold-out point, and with this also “All Weekend” tickets. If you did not get your ticket yet, don’t wait too long!
If a day gets sold out you also won’t be able to get tickets at the door for that day (including “All Weekend” tickets which of course include that day). So if you want to be ensured access to the convention, do reserve your tickets online now!
Due to cancellations and double bookings we have a small amount of rooms available again at NH Koningshof. To make sure that everyone has an equal chance to get a hotel room, we will hold a lottery.
Before participating in the hotel room lottery, please make sure that:
– you have a weekend ticket registered for Abunai! 2015
– you are absolutely sure you want to book a room, rooms given out by the lottery cannot be canceled! If you get a room, the money needs to be transferred within 7 days after the confirmation email.
To have a chance to get a hotel room, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org before Saturday July 25th, 23:59. Also include your visitor number and your preferred room type as well as a second option (in case we cannot match your first preference)! Available options include: Single Room, Single Superior Room, Twin Room, Twin Superior Room, Double Room.
Visitors with a room at NH Best or NH Geldrop can apply as well, but in case of an overwhelming amount of applications, visitors without a sleeping accommodation will receive preference.
Winners will be contacted in the week following the closing date. If you haven’t heard from us by then, you unfortunately did not receive a room.
This weekend you will find Abunai! in the Dealer Room at Atsusacon (www.atsusacon.be). Feel free to drop by for a quick chat, a free poster or some delicious candy. This is also the last convention where we’ll be hosting our candy jar contest: are you the one with the closest guess on how much candy is in the jar at our stand this weekend? Then you will win all weekend VIP access to “Abunai! 2015 – Sugar, spice and everything nice.” – But be quick, or someone will have eaten it all already:
So as most of you know we closed the sign-ups for the competitions on the 30th of June. However there has been a small change in plans as starting [Insert date and time] we will open the signups again for Clara Cow Cosplay Cup preliminaries. This because we sadly received a very low amount of sign-ups. It is also quite understandable as it is a new competition and most people were probably still considering competing after AnimeCon or are not entirely sure what the competition is about. So for those who would still like to sign-up you can now do so until July 31st.
For those who are still not quite sure as to what the CCCC actually is the CCCC is an international competition created by Animecon. It had its first edition this year with great success! It is a competition for duo’s and focusses on both the costume and the act. Every genre is welcome at this competition anime, manga, games, comics and so on making it a very diverse competition. And the prize for winning the finals? A trip to Japan for a week!
So what does this have to do with Abunai? Well Abunai is hosting the Dutch preliminaries for 2016 so if you and your cosplay partner would love a chance to compete during a very relaxed and diverse competition with a great prize this is the competition for you!
More information on the rules can be found on the Abunai website and more information about the competition can be found on the AnimeCon website.
Are you someone who enjoys watching Anime, or do you have a general interest in the Japanese Culture? If you are planning on visiting “Abunai! – Sugar spice and everything nice” maybe you would like to help us out. Each year we are in need of volunteers to help us during the Abunai! convention. Without our volunteers, there would not even be a convention at all! As a gopher, you will work in a fun team that does all sorts of handiwork on site. You even get your own T-shirt! If you are interested, go to your registration and makes sure to tick the box “I want to sign up as a Gopher!”
Unfortunately we have to inform you that the Karaoke Competition is now full. All the available slots for entries have been filled. You can still sign-up for the competition, but you will be put in the waitinglist. This means that if you want to compete in the competition you have to wait till one of the slots become available. We shall contact you if this happens.
We hosted a contest at our stand in the Dealer Room at both YaYcon and Animecon this year where visitors at our stand would have to guess the amount of candy contained within a (sealed) jar. The results of both contests are finally in. Congratulations to Isabel Huisintveld for getting closest at YaYcon: she guessed 199 candies, where the contents were 198. And congratulations to Julia Mestrum for guessing the exact contents of the jar at Animecon: 293 pieces.
Both winners have been informed and have received their prize: an all-weekend limited VIP Ticket for Abunai! 2015!
