Here’s everything you need to know to make sure you obtain tickets to attend the Netherlands’ cheekiest convention.
Eindhoven, Sector VH-117 aka King’s Court. The Near-Future.
The Abunai! Festival will once again mark the end of the summer. However, Direktor Mar-K of megacorp NSI has a vision for the much beloved get-together. A cold vision of regulated “fun”. A mysterious hacker known only as the Phantom Fox has vowed to to stop him, to make sure the festival stays true to its free fun roots. Will you join his cause? Or would you rather see Mar-K’s goal succeed? Or simply join the merchants to cruise along and rake in huge profits from the good vs. evil chaos!
Abunai! 2019: High Tech, Low Life is a unique immersive experience that’ll offer the best of both worlds. Mixing our cozy convention with crazy Cyberpunk-themed live action role-playing, the sordid seventeenth edition of the Netherlands’ cheekiest convention is sure to be the wildest one yet.

We’re proud to present the official artwork for Abunai! 2019: High Tech, Low Life. Howling Riot, manga and art studio extraordinaire, truly graced us with a piece of art. Is this Cyberpunk or what?! The talented artists incorporated several elements of our new interactive live-action roleplaying experience in our poster for you to find. We’ll be revealing which elements and what they stand for soon, but we’re quite sure that if you’ve seen the Abunai! 2018 ending ceremony you’re already quite informed.
For more information on Howling Riot, please check the Howling Riot website, like the Howling Riot Facebook, follow the Howling Riot Instagram, tweet to the Howling Riot Twitter, and subscribe to the Howling Riot YouTube channel.
As you may know, over the convention weekend we have tracked the walking distances of several of our crewmembers in order to find out what the total distance would be that has been walked by our entire crew.
During the closing ceremony we announced a very impressive score for this distance, but that score was only the intermediate count used for the competition. Because well after everyone had left our crew was still working very hard on cleaning up the convention, which involves a lot more walking. And several crewmembers even kept working, and walking, on Monday.
Counting up all the extra kilometers from Sunday evening and Monday we have a final count for out total walking distance that we want to share. The total distance our crew walked during the weekend is 8034,95 kilometers. To put that into perspective: that is about the distance from our convention grounds to Beijing.
We are very proud of this impressive feat and want to thank all our volunteers for their hard work and dedication throughout the weekend.
Abunai! 2018: Tales of Kitsunia is just around the corner! Starting Wednesday August 22nd we will be busy getting the convention up and running. This means that all our staff members will be occupied and we will be unable to answer e-mails or social media messages in a timely manner.
Also, starting Thursday (August 23), our online ticket registrations will be closed. You’ll only be able to buy tickets at the door, subject to availability.
We will remain occupied until next Tuesday (August 28), as we’ll clean up and break down the convention on Monday. We thank you for your understanding and patience. We’ll be back next Tuesday to answer all your questions and respond to your feedback!
Introducing our Abunai! 2018: Tales of Kitsunia cosplay guest: Linny l’a Vanté! (For Dutch, see below / Voor Nederlands, zie onder).
“Hello my name is Linny,
I’m a costume designer and cosplayer from The Netherlands. You can find me in all kinds of creative worlds, like fantasy fairs or comic book conventions. Making costumes is my passion and I love cosplays and original design equally. I visited my first convention in 2015, but I was already familiar with the world of original designs since 2008, so I already had some experience and crafting skills before I started cosplaying.
Before I knew it I was pushing myself to try out new things and conquer various challenges, just to get my costume ready for the next event. Which can be difficult sometimes, since I’m quite a perfectionist. My favorite thing to make are corsets, I just love them. My project are usually an excuses to make a new corset.
As you can read costumes and cosplays are my greatest passion and just can’t live without them.”
We’re keeping Abunai! 2018 as cool as possible. This year in addition to the event rooms, the Dealer Room (Beneluxzaal) and Main Stage (Kempenzaal) will be climate controlled. Both areas will be approx. 10 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. This will help with the heat, but don’t forget to drink water often!
