AnimeCon 2007 competition Play our game at home!! |
||
If you want to play our murder mystery game again or for all those of you who didn't get to play it, here it is:
The story
It was a evening like any other. It was raining cats and dogs outside. I was sitting in my chair and kicked my feet up on the desk. It was full of paperwork from the cases I was working on, most of them just worried wives that suspected their husbands of cheating. It pays the bills. I listened to the rain hitting the window, while I tried to get the poor excuse for coffee in my mug down my throat. It tasted like paint-stripper, but is was cheap and it did the trick. Spiked the stuff with my old friend Jack Daniels for good measure. Just as I was glad that my mug was empty, "she" walked in. She was a blonde bombshell, the kind you wouldn't take home to mother. She was wearing a red dress and a soaked raincoat. She had legs that would go on forever and had a hungry look in her eyes. I thought I was gonna be her next meal. Who am I? I'm Rock Johnson and I'm a private eye.
She told me her name was Cecilia Charlongton. What's in a name, huh? So this dame comes to me with this bleedin' hart story about how her husband Nigel was killed and how she feared for her life. Some smalltime underworld lowlife called Jack Slither was the prime suspect, and he had admitted to the murder, but she told me it wasn't he who killed Nigel. This whole thing reeked of trouble, but I can't resist a damsel in distress. Little would I know that I was just a pawn in some sick game. Guess I was the kind of sucker she was looking for. I told her I'd take the case, out of boredom rather than actual interest, and stated my price. Money seemed to be no object, she took my first offer. Five grand. That's never easy money, believe me. I started squeezing her for some info.
Her husband was involved with some shady characters. First there was Seamus McMallin, also known as the "the Irishman". He was a pretty well known kingpin in the illegal booze trade. Then there was Charlie Cunningham, a club owner well known by the local fuzz. They leave him alone because he "pays his dues" if ya catch my drift. His club "pussycat lounge" was known as a cesspool of shady characters and one of the biggest buyers of Seamus' booze. Nigel Charlongton was the accountant there. He probably stuck his nose in some business he shouldn't have. Next to that, turns out the dame sitting in front of me is their local songbird. Just gets more interesting every second, doesn't it?
I set her of on her way, walking her to her car. I told I would start on the case immediately. I jumped in that old banger I call a car and drove to the pussycat lounge. The bouncers where real happy to see me. This is the local watering hole for all of my snitches, so they new why I was here. I paid them off so they wouldn't nag. My landlord will if I don't solve this one quick though. That was my rent money I just spent on those gorilla's. Inside I "visited" my "friends". Each of them gave me a vital clue.
That's where you come in. There are ten vital clues spread out amongst the visitors of this convention. To attain all clues, you must trade them with other visitors after you wrote them down on the form on the other side. If you make the right deductions, you will arrive at the right conclusion and catch our villain!
The clue's
1. Nigel had a big life insurance which all goes to Cecilia. It is a lot of money and she will probably be settled for life. Neither Seamus nor Charlie ever knew he had this kind of money though; Nigel was a crafty fellow.
2. Charlie Cunningham and Cecilia Charlongton were having a serious love affair. Cecilia wouldn't leave her husband to be with Charlie though. There was something she had to do before getting a divorce. Something about securing their future.
3. The Pussycat Lounge is in dire straits. Some people say it won't be long before they're out of business unless someone donates a lot of money to the bar. If they find out what Charlie has been up to with that bar, he will be behind some other bars for certain.
4. Nigel Charlongton was one of the best accountants Seamus could ever find. He was loyal and trustworthy, but best of all, really good at covering up Charlie's shady dealings. Things will get tough for him now Nigel is gone, very tough. There is no way he would have a strong enough motive to kill his brilliant accountant.
5. Seamus McMallin stole a large sum of money from Cecilia Charlongton through corrupt bank employees. The money was meant for her, but instead of being deposited into her account, he had it 'disappear'. Cecilia apparently needed this money quite badly, so she is very keen on getting it back.
6. The police station got an anonymous tip to check out Seamus McMallin as the murderer of Nigel. Seamus has given the police a lot of problems in the past though, so they won't do anything against him unless they have solid evidence. If you were to find incriminating evidence on him, they would surely arrest him.
7. Seamus McMallin and Nigel Charlongton go back a long way; they are the best of friends. Nobody believes Seamus would ever kill Nigel, but apparently incriminating evidence against Seamus exists. Most people who know about this believe it to be a set up; it suddenly appeared a week after the murder. Seamus has secured all this evidence.
8. Jack Slither was a frequent visitor of the Pussycat Lounge. He is one of Seamus McMallin's goons, and a very loyal one at it. It is certain that Seamus has something to do with this arrest and the fact that he so readily admitted to the murder.
9. Seamus McMallin wants this case to be closed as soon as possible, even though he isn't even a suspect. There is probably something related to this case he doesn't want revealed to the police.
10. Seamus McMallin has been giving the Pussycat Lounge a hard time lately. Charlie has been getting a bit cocky though, trying to set new terms to their business knowing he's Seamus' biggest buyer. Seamus is trying to keep anybody from financially aiding the bar too.
Now the fun starts!
