Abunai! is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and we can use all the help we can get to deliver one hell of a convention. At the moment we are looking for new meat to join our design team. Creative types, please check out the vacancy below!
In for an international challenge, just not by yourself? Look no further than the International Cosplay League Dutch preliminaries at Abunai! 2017.
The ICL competition comes in two flavours: Solo and Duo. Both competitions are exactly what it says on the tin.
In the Solo Competition you’ll compete all by yourself and be judged solely on your entire costume. Pick some nice music, do your best runway walk, strike a pose, smile and wave.
In the Duo competition it’ll be just the two of you and your act. That’s right, you don’t just gotta look good, you gotta get good! Your costume and act weigh equally in judges’ eyes in the Duo competition.
The Solo Competition preliminaries will be held on Friday August 25th. The Duo Competition preliminaries are held on Saturday 26th. Winners will go on to participate in the International Cosplay League finals in Madrid during Japan Madrid Weekend, which will be held in September.
The lights are hanging in the Christmas tree. Some last minute shopping is being done. And we as Abunai! have a present for you:
Douglas has decided to make a special movie together with Abunai! this Christmas. It is his final work for Abunai! So please enjoy this holiday special by his hand by clicking the link below. It’s going to be a Christmas to remember!
Merry Christmas and we hope to see all at Abunai 2017: A History in the Making!
Abunai is almost here! Starting Thursday we will be busy building up and running the convention. This means that all our staff members will be on location and quite busy, therefore it will be difficult to answer e-mails or social media messages we receive in a timely manner. This will remain to be the case until Monday. We hope that you’ll understand this and we will be back on Tuesday to answer all your questions.
Also, starting Thursday, our online ticket registrations will be closed and the only option will be to buy a ticket at the convention at the door. Bear in mind though that Saturday tickets are completely sold out (both online and at the door!) and are no longer available. However we still have enough tickets for Friday and Sunday available.
The weather forecast shows us that it is going to be extremely warm during the weekend of Abunai! It is possible that we will reach 30 degrees on Friday. Therefore we advise you to plan accordingly. Please make sure you have plenty of water with you. Items like a sun hat or cap might be a good idea to prevent getting a heat stroke while waiting in line before the convention opens.
As an additional measure NH Koningshof will arrange a water tap point outside where running water can be tapped. This will be free of charge. There will be some plastic cups, but try to bring your own (refillable) water bottle if possible.
This point will be located on the grass field outside the food court (approximately; the exact location will be determined on site).
Enjoy Abunai in a new way; join us as a gopher!
Each year we are in need of volunteers such as you to help us during the convention. In fact, without gophers there wouldn’t even be an Abunai! to enjoy.
As a gopher you will join a fun team which will help us during the convention with all sorts of tasks like events, the registration or information desk, the cloakroom and many other things.
Lunch and refreshments during the weekend will be provided for and you will even get a free t-shirt! We also have limited accomodation options left.
So are you at least 16 years of age and available for a minimum of 6 hours per day and would you like to join our team? Please sign up through ticket registration or send us a mail.

It’s only been a few weeks since Abunai!, but we are already working on the 2016 edition. Therefore we would like to ask a bit of your time to fill out a questionnaire. It would be a great help to know what you liked and what you would like to see different. To reward you for your time, we offer a chance to win a whole weekend VIP ticket for Abunai! 2016. At the end of the questionnaire you can leave your email address and we will pick a winner at random. Of course this is optional and you can also choose to fill the questionnaire out anonymously.
You can fill out the questionnaire here until the 5th of October 2015.
