Abunai! 2017: History in the Making marks the 10th anniversary of Your Anime Sucks. “But my anime doesn’t suck?” Well, according to the two dudes hosting this gig, it does!
Your Anime Sucks is a satirical panel show, in which you and other visitors will hear why your opinion is wrong. Lighthearted, salty and tongue-in-the-cheek, Your Anime Sucks is not to be missed. In honor of their 10th year, the hosts will be adding some brand new features and changes to the format.
Your Anime Sucks will be held Saturday August 26th from 23:00 until 03:00. Interested?
Please check-in on the event page on Facebook, to let all your friends know you made a great decision.
The Cosplay meet-up schedule is back! After last year’s overwhelming success, the schedule will once again help you notify other Cosplayers of your Cosplay meet during Abunai! 2017: History in the Making.
Simply fill out the Cosplay meet-up schedule form and your meet-up will be added to the schedule. Happy Cosplaying!
Abunai! 2017 will host two video competitions for the cinematographically inclined, one familiar and one brand spanking new: the Anime Music Video (AMV) competition and our first ever Cosplay Music Video (CMV) competition. Sign-up sheets for these competitions are now open, get to it budding Spielbergs!
In the AMV competition you’ll deliver a video with animated footage of yours choice set to music of your choice. It can be comedic or serious, go wild! But not too wild, as nudity, gore, excessive violence and other content not suitable for minors is not allowed.
Despite the name, you can actually use footage from sources other than Anime. Confusing, we know. “Anime And Also Manga Stills, (Fan)art, Game Footage and Anything Else Japan Related Not Featuring Real People But Only In Moderation Competition” is just too long, unfortunately.
Unlike the AMV, the Cosplay Music Video Competition is exactly what you think it is. In the CMV competition you’ll produce a video featuring footage of one or more Cosplayers set to music.
Edit footage of a scared boy struggling to get into a robot to My Dad Sucks, a sport anime training montage to Push it to the Limit, or Yuri on Ice to Ice, Ice Baby. Or just film whoever doing whatever and put it to Attack on Titan’s Guren no Yumiya. Apparently everything goes with that song.
Is posing too little of an effort for you? Or perhaps you’re simply so comfortable with a character you might as well go the extra mile and act like them while you’re at it?
Say no more and sign up for the Cosplay Acting Competition at Abunai! 2017.
In our acting compo you’ll don a full costume and perform an act. Props and equipment are allowed in your act, but be sure to inform us in advance! Neither audio nor video are mandatory, feel free to design your act to your satisfaction. But please, keep it decent. Wouldn’t want to traumatize the children in the audience now do we?
The competition will be held Saturday August 26th. The winner takes home eternal glory and bragging rights. We reckon you can also put this victory on your resume if you’re planning to apply to acting school!
Do you feel like unleashing your inner Takeshi Kitano or Rinko Kikuchi? More information, rules, deadlines and sign-up sheet can be found at the Cosplay Acting Competition 2017 page.
