Our online ticket booth will reopen tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 o’clock in the afternoon (14:00).
At this moment all sleeping accommodations are reserved and thus we will not be offering a new batch of hotel rooms when the ticket booth reopens. Although we have no plans for it now it’s still possible that a third round of hotel room sales will take place, provided enough rooms free up again (for example through unpaid reservations, double bookings or cancellations).
In case an additional round of sales does take place, we will announce this on our website, however we do not expect this to happen within at least a month; visitors without a hotel room are recommended to look for alternative places to sleep. For people whose hotel room has been cancelled after a payment was made: your refund will be processed this week. Should you not have received your refund by June 9th: please contact us with your registration details so we can investigate the issue.
Due to recent events we’ve also decided to expand the 14 day payment period for open reservations, starting now. That means you’ll get a payment reminder after one week for any unpaid items, and that your order will be cancelled if it is still unpaid after the second week.
Last Saturday we offered our second batch of hotel rooms up for sale at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Unfortunately this did not go as planned, and while access to the system was blocked, several users had found a way around that, either purposely or accidentally, and had used this opportunity to already book rooms before the official opening time. Even though we had spent several hours discussing potential next steps, in the end we chose the most extreme one: shutting down our ticket registration and cancelling all registrations.
With several difficult options ahead, we felt this was the best course to take. Understandably, this was met by a fierce response by a fair share of our visitors, both on Facebook and through e-mail as well. We’ve spent the last few days analyzing what happened exactly and have reviewed the information available to us.
Even though we’re still in the process of analyzing and ordering all information, it’s already clear at this point that we can accurately say what steps were taken by whom at what time, and thus the need for a complete cancellation is (fortunately) no longer needed, and therefore no longer an option. We will however still cancel the registrations of any user who accessed the system and made a registration before 2 o’clock. Even though we do not fully favor this action, we find it to be the most fair step to take; we clearly announced a start-up time for this round of hotel room sales, so accessing and using the system before that time can be seen as an unfair advantage even if it was not intended to be possible. Some, hopefully most, used this advantage either unknowingly or with normal intentions, but others knowingly abused it ruining chances for others in favor of their own benefit. As it is impossible for us to determine the intentions of everyone involved in this, we have no choice but to draw a single line in this.
All users who registered a hotel room last Saturday will be contacted and will be informed within a week by e-mail about the status of their registration.
Finally, there is another situation that came to our attention while investigating the registration data of Saturday which primary concerns people who have booked a room at NH Geldrop. After the enormous rush on the first batch of hotel rooms on Thursday May 14th we contacted NH Hoteles and managed to secure additional rooms at an additional venue in Geldrop. These rooms were added on short notice, and unfortunately, in this rushed enthusiasm, with a wrong maximum limit. As a result we have sold more hotel rooms than we can offer. That means some rooms will have to be cancelled here as well. We’re still making an overview of the names involved, but we will contact all users who registered a room at NH Geldrop by e-mail within a week to inform you of your registration status. If your NH Geldrop room gets cancelled we’ll also contact you in regards to compensation.
We again deeply apologize for the inconvenience and uncertainty this has caused. This whole situation has troubled us as much as it has you, our guests. Our main goal is and will always be to provide you with a great and meaningful weekend, and a place to sleep for those who require this should be an integral part of this. This has been a lengthy and meaningful lesson for all of us and despite this situation we hope we can still welcome you at Abunai! 2015 and provide you with an amazing weekend full of sugar, spice and all other things nice.
Like most of you have already seen, in a matter of minutes the last batch of rooms was sold out. We did encounter some problems and a lot of you also sent us mails and messages regarding these problems. By further inspection, we found out that some people deliberately tried to break and fool our system. This resulted in rooms being given out before the allotted time of 14:00. This of course isn’t fair to anyone, and we are also taking measures against this. While we did notice some suspicious actions by some users before 14:00 (against whom we will take appropriate steps) we can’t determine for certain who (deliberately) bypassed the system and who did not.
In light of this, we have decided that any and all hotel reservations made today (16th of May) in the afternoon will be cancelled. This means that we will appoint a new moment in the near future to acquire a room at Abunai! 2015. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but with this method we hope that we can give everyone a fair chance.
Any and all payments that have been made will be refunded in time. After the refunds have been made, we will decide on a new date for the hotel rooms. In order to resolve this properly we will keep our ticket registration offline for a while longer, but we will post an announcement when we’re ready to reopen.

Our ticket registration is now live however the first batch of hotel rooms has already been all but completely sold out: most NH Koningshof rooms were gone in less than two minutes, which has managed to baffle us as well.
Congratulations to those who managed to obtain a room, and to those who didn’t we wish you good luck on the next round: the second batch will go up for sale on Saturday 16th at 14:00 hours.
At Dutch Comic Con we’ve hosted a competition at our promo stand where you were required to guess the amount of candy in a jar. We’ve received an overwhelming amount of entries and have finally confirmed the results: the winner of the Dutch Comic Con contest is Wilbert Kessels who managed to guess the exact amount of candy: 382! Congratulations, Wilbert, on winning your VIP Ticket for Abunai! 2015!
Our ticket system isn’t the only thing that’s getting an overhaul this year. As you can see we’ve also made some changes to our website. While the old site was still getting plenty of compliments for its design, we thought it was time for something fresh, something cute and playful.
Just as important however: the back-end of the site has become a lot simpler to manage, making it easier for us to give quicker updates and add new content. Expect a lot of activity coming from us in the upcoming period, including upcoming promotional activities and new events and competitions this year.

Some of you might be wondering what is going on with the Abunai! Ticket sales. It is true that the ticket sales are starting later this year compared to previous years. This is mostly because we are working really hard on a new registration system and website. Unfortunately we underestimated the amount of time this would take and we apologize for that.
However this means that we will be able to provide a smoother sales procedure and are able to give you clear information about the convention when we go live.
There are also concerns about the hotel rooms. Some people are worried that the hotel will be fully booked by external parties, but this is not the case. Abunai! has reserved all the hotel rooms already so that you can book them through the ticket registration system.
